[MB] London walk pictures?

Hello Julie,

The walk you organized sounds amazing. And I think it's wonderful that POD's son-in-law and grandson will be joining you.

I wish I could go, but I live in Portland, Oregon and I don't have one scrap of vacation time remaining. I'm the type that uses my vacation before I earn it! I've never been the person who loses vacation days because they can't find the time to take one...

Can anyone who is lucky enough to go on the walk volunteer to take some pictures? Are pictures allowed? If so, that would be really nice, but I can understand if they're not allowed, since the guides have to make a living.

I hope all of  you have a great time! --Diane

Well, I was *intending* on taking my camera, as it tends to go everywhere
with me...

I'd love to post photos of the walk on my website, so if anyone/everyone
wants, I can make this a centralized spot for the photos . If any of the
MB Walkers can send photos (with some kind of description of what they
are), that would be most appreciated.
My usual email doesn't handle large attachments well, so please send to
***@shaw.ca.

And I am so envious! Oh, to be able to pop over to the UK for the walk...
Just curious, how many people are now confirmed for it?

I'm not sure really. As it is I don't have enough RSVPs to pay for the
guide. If pictures (and descriptions) are posted, what's the incentive to go
on the walk?

I understand people who live far away but those who live in the UK, I just
don't understand their reluctance to make the effort to attend.

My husband is a semi-professional photographer. If the guide agrees we will
post some photos on www.louisberk.com.

best, Julie

I think there are many of us, especially overseas, who'd love to go on the
walk, photos or not! - The only deterrent for me is the price of a
trans-atlantic plane ticket. ;)
I hope you get enough people enrolled, Julie. Thanks for going to all the
effort of making this available to everyone.

Would love to be there, but the drive from San Francisco is daunting.
However, I seem to recall that Modesty and Willie had a pied-a-terre in
Sausalito, a small district of San Francisco, so I'll walk around Sausalito
that day in spiritual solidarity :)

This post got  me thinking. A lot of MB adventures take place in the US (and a lot of other foreign locales as well). If you live in a city where Modesty and Willie visited, why not post a photo of the probable location?

I remember how incredibly excited I was upon first reading Uncle Happy. The story starts in San Diego, California, my home town! I was so proud!

Modesty is there on holiday, scuba diving. Alas, I now live in Portland, Oregon, and I doubt Modesty ever visited here, but next time I'm in San Diego, I'll take some photos of possible diving locations. La Jolla Cove being the most obvious site for the "bay north of San Diego" in the story. Awesome diving and snorkeling there. That's probably what POD was referring to. Next time I'm in town, I'll snap some pics to share. And also of the La Valencia hotel, where Modesty probably stayed! It' a beautiful and super posh hotel on a cliff overlooking the shores.

Not to be rude but pictures and descriptions are hardly the same thing as
being there. If I could be there I would. My guess is people have their
reasons for not attending just as they have their reasons for not doing a
lot of things they'd like to do if they could. Lack of money, work, family
commitment, shyness... Just something to consider.

I count at least 8 people so far (M., GKK+husband, Emma, Anna and Julia,
Alice, Mika, possibly Karl). How many do you need for it to not be a loss?
It's a little over one hundred pounds all in all, right? 15-20 pounds per
person doesn't really seem that much to me but then again that's the normal
price for a pizza over here so... *shrugs*
